Overview

The App Builder in DataStripes lets you create interactive dashboards by combining a wide variety of widgets, all powered by your spreadsheet data. Build, customize, and share analytical views with just a few clicks.

Building a Dashboard

  1. Switch to App Builder mode from the main menu.

  2. Drag and drop widgets onto the dashboard canvas. Widget types include:

    • Charts (line, bar, area, pie, scatter, radar, candlestick, etc.)

    • KPI Cards, Tables, Waterfall, Variance, Distribution, Correlation

    • Kanban, Calendar, Gantt, Map, Gallery, Record Navigator, List

    • Dashboard Filters, Forms, Voice Analyst, Custom Widgets

  3. Configure each widget:

    • Select the data source (sheet and range)

    • Set properties (labels, colors, aggregation, etc.)

    • Add filters or formulas for dynamic content

  4. Resize and arrange widgets by dragging their edges or moving them on the canvas.

  5. Widgets update automatically when the underlying data changes.

Advanced Features

  • Widget Properties Panel: Access advanced settings for each widget (conditional formatting, drill-down, interactivity).

  • Linked Filters: Connect filters to multiple widgets for coordinated dashboard views.

  • Custom Widgets: Build your own HTML/JS widgets with full access to appApi and external libraries.

  • Responsive Layout: Dashboards adapt to different screen sizes.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Combine multiple widget types for richer insights.

  • Use scenario analysis and what-if widgets for advanced modeling.

  • Save and duplicate dashboards for different audiences or use cases.

Troubleshooting

  • If a widget does not display data, check the data source and range settings.

  • For performance, limit the number of widgets on very large dashboards.

App Builder empowers you to turn raw data into actionable insights—experiment with different widgets and layouts to find what works best for your needs.
